Tungle Looking for Beta Volunteers for New Blackberry App

Tungle, the slick cloud based scheduling tool has just tweeted that they are looking for beta testers.  To get in, email bb@tungle.com and include your Blackberry model and OS version.

For those of you not yet familiar with Tungle, it’s a great app that has proved indispensable to me and excels at solving the problem of cross-network scheduling of meetings.  A typical scenario is this:

  • I want to book a meeting with several people from 2 or more companies, which means I can’t see their calendars and they can’t see mine.
  • So I either decide that I’m ‘feeling lucky’, a la Google, and then send out meeting invites for a specific date and time, or I’ll start playing the ‘this date works for me…how about you?’ game.
  • Either method results in a series of wasted back and forth communications whose number is directly and exponentially tied to how many attendees will be in the meeting.
  • Eventually, through luck and determination, and lots of wasted time and effort we finally arrive at a date and time that works for all.

Tungle solves this beautifully by allowing the other attendees to either accept the meeting invite or propose different times.  It really shines when most (or all) of the attendees use Tungle as your Tungle calendar can sync with your other calendars (notably Outlook and Gmail with more to follow I’m sure) which means that you can very quickly find a specific time slot that works for everyone attending.

I’ve applied to the beta and will post a review after I get it and put it through it’s paces.

MyBlackBerry, The BlackBerry Social Network From RIM, Has Launched

MyBlackBerry

Somehow I managed to miss that MyBlackBerry, the official BlackBerry community social network, launched yesterday for all.

I’ve just created my account and logged in for the first time.   Haven’t had the chance to check everything out yet, but, the profile seems kind of rigid.  Don’t seem to be able to determine what my display name will be.  I will put MyBlackBerry through the paces when I get some time and put a proper review up in a few days.

Official WordPress For BlackBerry App Now In Public Beta

WordPress for BlackBerryWe have been waitng for an official WordPress for BlackBerry application for what seems like an eternity, however, not too long after Automattic, the company behind WordPress, announced that there would be a WordPress for BlackBerry application, we have a beta that is publicly available for download.

I’ve just installed WordPress for BlackBerry on my Storm and, although I haven’t had the chances to completely put it through the paces, I’ve got to admit that it is pretty good for beta.   I was able add a blog and create a new post with a picture pretty easily.  The app is still a little rough around the edges, but, you can definitely see the potential and I can’t wait until the production release comes out.

If you own a BlackBerry and run a WordPress Blog, WordPress for BlackBerry is definitely one app you will want to keep an eye on.

Viigo

It’s been a while since we’ve last talked about Viigo, one of our all time favorite free BlackBerry applications, however, we figured that we would give them a mention today because they released a new version of over the weekend.

One of the cool new features is an integrated Twitter client which I am about to really put through the paces.

Once again, Viigo is a free BlackBerry application and you can get it on BlackBerry App World or download directly to your device at http://GetViigo.com.
