BBerryNews The First Images Of BlackBerry Shield Hit The Web
June 28th, 2010
BBerryNews Research in Motion is working a really cool, free, service for BIS BlackBerry users that will aid them if they ever misplace or have a BlackBerry stolen as well as with remote backup and recovery. The service is called BlackBerry Shield, and, we believe these to be the first images of BlackBerry Shield to hit the web.
BlackBerry Shield features include:
- Remote Device Wipe – in case of loss of the terminal, just log in to BB Shield to remove all data from the device and / or memory card.
- “Lost & Found” Screen – you can customize the sentence on the screen to display that the BlackBerry is lost and show any information about the content (i.e. “take me please”).
- The ability to remotely set the password on the BlackBerry
- A loud bell alarm - useful option, even if you’ve lost your BlackBerry (at home) – once you’ve activated this option, your BB will ‘behave’ loud sounding an alarm, which will hopefully prompt a passerby (or yourself) to pick up your lost BlackBerry.
- Tracking capability – based on the GSM transmitters and / or GPS position that is constantly monitored in the BlackBerry unit, and there may be the possibility of seeing it on the map (like Google Maps) from the BB Shield dashboard.
- Backup – create wireless backup and restore, which can be set automatically exercise in the given time intervals
We aren’t sure when BlackBerry Shield will become available, however, we expect that it will be a pretty popular service once it does.

8900 will not let me view media
June 28th, 2010
BBerryNews One of my lovely users has a 8900 and I have installed Blackberry Manager for him on his XP PC. We are using BES 5.0. He needs the Blackberry Manager program (off the CD it came with) so he can take off the pictures he has taken with the camera. Unfortunatly they are work related so I cant tell him to do-one…
When I fire up the media manager thing, or what is prerry much Roxio for Blackerry (LOL) it see’s the Device’s memory but not the memory card. I can see the pcitures on the Blackberry itself. I took and saved a picture to the device and can see that in the Blackberry Manager program.
How do I get it to view files that are on the memory card? Windows doesn’t seem to see the card as a normaly "memory stick" either.
Does anyone have any idea’s? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Dave.

Memory Card doesn’t show up as a drive in My computer
June 22nd, 2010
BBerryNews I have bought a new Blackberry Bold 2, I downloaded few songs and wanted to copy it to my Memory card.
When I use the Desktop Manager. I only see the Device memory and not the Memory card.
I followed some thread where they have asked me to assign a Drive from My computer Manage option. That didn’t work as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Sajjad
