Why Doesn’t BlackBerry App World Come Pre-Installed On New Devices?

BlackBerry App World

I would have to imagine that most people reading this post have probably already installed BlackBerry App World, Research in Motion’s version of the iPhone App Store, but,  for the BlackBerry.  I would venture, however, that many BlackBerry users, maybe even the majority of them, have never heard of it.

BlackBerry App World is still fairly new, coming out just this passed April and Research in Motion hasn’t exactly advertised the heck out of App World, but, you would figure that it would become more popular as RIM releases new BlackBerry devices into the wild, unless, of course, BlackBerry App World doesn’t come pre-installed on new BlackBerry devices.

This brings us to the question that I have for Research in Motion…

Why, in the world, do you not pre-install BlackBerry App World on new BlackBerry devices?

RIM developing an Enhanced Gmail Plugin for BlackBerry

blackberry_gmail

To date, the Gmail experience on BlackBerry hasn’t met the standards that most users expect. According to a few screenshots leaked on BlackBerryForum(de), RIM is going to be improving the experience with an upcoming Enhanced Gmail Plugin. As you can see above, it includes:

* See your Gmail based emails in Conversation View for simple topic management
* Add and remove labels and stars to emails to keep inbox organized
* Archive and report as spam actions for mailbox management on the go
* Search your entire Gmail inbox

You’ll need BIS 2.7 for the plugin, and feel free to try and get in the beta program. If you do get in the beta program, let us know what you think.
