Controller reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours

Hello,

I’m hoping someone will be able to help with the following:

Over the last couple of days I have been getting Event ID 20406. Restarting the server has sorted the issue, but ofcourse that’s only temporary. Almost every troubleshooting step I have seen about this issue references two further Event IDs of 5305 and 5202, however, none of these are appearing in the Event Log for Application or System or anywhere else.

I have looked over the CTRL log but there doesn’t seem to be anything obvious there either.

The only related thing I have seen in the event logs is Event ID 10000 which states: "servername agent 1 violated CPU usage constraint of 90% for 601 seconds exceeding the set maximum of 600 seconds. Restarting."

The setup is Blackberry Server Express 5.0.1.4 on Exchange Server 2003 (I know, not ideal) using the BESAdmin account.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

8900 Not Responding

Hi All,

I’m starting to get desperate with my phone. Here’s what exactly happened. I was having trouble with the trackball so I applied a little bit (don’t laugh) spit to it and rolled it upside down on a clean glass. That was before I went to sleep. The morning after the alarm on the phone went off and when I attempted to press the dismiss button I realized the keyboard and ball were not responding. So I pulled the battery. The phone rebooted normally without errors but I still had no use of the keyboard and the ball was scrolling erratically and not clicking at all. So what I did next was to remove rear lid, pull the battery and put both in a sack of premium Basmati rice for a couple of days. Today I gave it another shot and now at reboot I’m getting a "uncaught exception: index 7 >= 7" followed by a white screen with a "App error 523 – Reset" message, with no use of the keyboard or trackball. I pulled the SIM card and repeated the reboot with the same results. The phone does not connect to the Desktop Manager.

I would be eternally grateful with any help I can get to recover my phone or at least do one last backup of the data.

BES High Availability showing status unknown

Hi,

I currently have two BES servers setup on Server 2008 R2 servers in and exchange 2007 environment. The database resides on a seperate server from both on SQL 2005. I have built servers for years but I am really stuck on this one.
Basically after approximatley 30 mins after both servers being rebooted the failover status of both servers changes to "unknown" from their previous status (Primary or Secondary) in the high availability section in the BAS. Also the status says "Not running" under the high availability section of the Blackberry server configuration panel.
I have tried everything I can think of. I have tried changing the communication between the servers from UDP to TCP (but both servers are in the same subnet so this doesn’t matter). I have been thrigh all the logs with no mention of an issue.
Has anyone else come across this issue? I have been at it for a couple of days now and any help would be greatly appreciated.

WordPress for BlackBerry Beta Already Out With An Update

WordPress for BlackBerry which just came out in public beta a couple of days ago has already received an update.  WordPress for Blackberry Beta 0.9.0.121 is now available and it fixes the following issues:

  • Corrects a problem with some self-hosted WordPress sites with version < 2.7
  • Fixes an issue with WordPress installs in subfolders
  • A few spelling / copy issues
  • Fixes a categories issue
