Package Version: 5.0.0.1252
Consisting of:

  • Applications: 5.0.0.741
  • Software Platform: 4.2.0.333
  • File name: 9520_omanodrmjEastAsia_PBr5.0.0_rel1252_PL4.2.0.33 3_A5.0.0.741_M1.exe

Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads…7A7FF6E220B5CF

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier’s 9520:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you’ve got that – simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you’ve deleted or think you’ve deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It’s located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it’s done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Leaked BlackBerry Storm OS Udates Are Making The Rounds Again

bb_os_4.7.0.151

Remember back before Verizon finally decided to update the firmware on the BlackBerry Storm 9530 to OS 4.7.0.148 it seemed  like there was a new leaked OS build hitting some download site every 2 or 3 weeks?  Well, we aren’t sure if we are going to start seeing new leaked OS updates coming at us that fast and furious again, but, we can say that there is a new OS out for the BlackBerry Storm.

Lusacell has actually released BlackBerry OS 4.7.0.151 for the BlackBerry Storm and it is available on RIM’s site, so, I am not sure that it is fair to call the OS a leak.  It isn’t, however, officially supported on the BlackBerry Storm from Verizon so you will have to treat it as such if you decide to install it to your Verizon branded BlackBerry Storm 9530.

If you decide to downloand and install 4.7.0.151 for your Storm and it isn’t from Lusacell don’t for get to delete the vendor.xml file from the apploader directory.  If you don’t know what or where that file is, you probably shouldn’t be installing this update, but you can find it here:

c:program files>common files>research in motion>apploader

This directory will be created after you install the update.  Make sure you remove vendor.xml before you update your device.

For some strange reason 4.7.0.151 is actually found under the drop down for the BlackBerry 9500, however, several different sites are stating that this update is indeed for the BlackBerry Storm 9530.
