Phone shutting down and restarting with foreign SIM

Hello Folks,

I am new to this forum and new to Blackberry phones. I recently bought a used Blackberry Bold 9000. It is an AT&T branded phone but unlocked, and I may activate it on T-Mobile but I do not have a T-Mobile SIM yet. I tried it out using a SIM card that was used when I was over in the Philippines just to see if the phone would work. It worked, but of course I got a message saying the SIM was not allowed because it is not active.

After that, I put in a SIM from a Philippine carrier that is on international roaming. This allows me to make a receive text messages from the US (where I am now) to the Philippines. I’ve used that SIM on another phone Samsung Propel) that is also branded AT&T and it works with no trouble. But when I put that SIM into the Blackberry, it would start up, I would see the phone "bars" indicating reception, but after just 30 seconds the screen freezes, it shuts off, then restarts again. This cycle continues, and I cannot use the phone.

Any suggestions? As I said, I have not tried it with a SIM from a US carrier yet (I will have to find a colleague with T-Mobile), but perhaps others on this forum experienced this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hootsuite for BlackBerry Now Accepting Beta Testers

hootsuite owl

SocialScope is a great application because it gives you access to several accounts in one application. Hootsuite gives similar utility in that it allows you to access several accounts from your desktop in a single web app. Today, the company sent out a newsletter with a “BlackBerry Notes” section at the bottom that read:

Finally, fans of RIM’s Blackberry phones can almost…. finally begin Hoot-ing since HootBerry is just about ready for beta release. To get on-board for early access, simply sign up at: http://ow.ly/2aRUx and you’ll be among the first to try the new tool.

Of course the company won’t be naming the application HootBerry, as that would conflict with the vendor agreement on App World. Unless they never plan to distribute using App World which would be a little silly. If anyone gets accepted to the Beta, let us know what you think! Use the above ow.ly link to find the beta registration form.

advice or help on diary/contact integration

I have been instructed to investigate to possibility of integrating diary and contact details in a proprietary SQL database with Blackberry phones. I am new to Blackberry phones and do not have one myself (yet).

Details are already maintained on a central database. Some people have blackberrys that can be connected to their Windows based workstations. The project is in two parts.
1. Export diary/calendar events from the SQL database into a format that can then be imported by the blackberry
2. Export contact phone details from the SQL database into a format that can then be imported by the blackberry

3. Import changed or new diary/calendar events from the blackberry into the SQL database.

I am looking for advice if:
1. This is feasible development in VS 2008 and there is good documentation with an SDK
2. There are libraries (3rd party or not) that can help me achieve the goals
3. Someone can take on the work to write the functionality for me (I would obviously need an indication of costs).

Thank you for any advice.
Regards
Dick

Help pleassee :)

Okay so I’m pretty new here, actually I just made an account to ask a few questions, (I don’t even know if I’m in the right forum?) so any help is very much appreciated.

I have a blackberry curve 8310 and when I plug it in to charge it won’t unless I have it in a certain position. I’m 100% sure that it’s not my charger because I tried using my brothers and my dads chargers. So it has to do with the phone. I was wondering if the charging pod for blackberry phones will work for me in my situation? I don’t really know much about it, anyway thanks a bunch for your help :D
