My blackberry messenger has gone :/

Model – Blackberry Curve 8520
Yesterday i went to access ‘blackberry messenger’ on my phone to find that the icon had dissapeared, but i found i could access it via ‘switch aplication’. I tried to re-download it but it wouldn’t work. I googled the problem and someone posted that you should restart your blackberry by pulling out the battery. I did so, but now i can’t even go on messenger through ‘switch aplication’. I then again attempted to download it, but it won’t let me go on app world. (Also the icon is not hidden).
I would really appreciate it if anyone had any help for me :)
Thanks :)
