Torch at Amazon Wireless for $99

I just ordered my Torch from Amazon Wireless for $99. I had looked at Wirefly and LetsTalk, but both insisted on a minimum $59 (900 minute) voice plan that you have to keep for 181 days. No such problem with Amazon where I ordered it with the $39 voice and $15 data plan.

I’m an ATT Premier customer and hope that I will be able to apply the Premier discount once I get the phone. Amazon does have an 181 day condition, but it appears to be only regarding termination. Even if i can’t get the discount for 6 months, it is still a lot cheaper than the ATT store and I don’t have to pay sales tax.

Fedex shipping is free, but it is "2-day" which is actually more like 4-5 days. I was not able to upgrade to overnight shipping. They don’t give any option for changing the type of shipping.

There is an $18 upgrade fee, but I would have had to pay that at the ATT store too. I’m upgrading from the original iphone which has been out of contract for several months. I played with the Torch at the store yesterday and really like the combo of iphone and bb type features.

Amazon Does Over $1 Billion In Sales From Mobile Devices Per Year

Amazon BlackBerry

We just heard a very interesting stat where Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, said that Amazon does over $1 billion in sales from mobile devices per year, most of which comes by way of smartphones.

The leading mobile commerce device today is the smartphone, but we’re excited by the potential of the new category of wireless tablet computers. Over time, tablet computers could become a meaningful additional driver for our business.

It’s mind boggling to think that the smartphone market is only 6% to 8% saturated.
