It looks like the BlackBerry Curve 8530 won’t be the only Verizon BlackBerry getting an OS update in the not too distant futre.  Word on the street is that the an OS 5  update for the Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630 is coming sometime in the next couple of weeks.  It will have Push-To-Talk support which will cost you an additional $5 per month on your Verizon bill.

Word on the street is that OS 5.0.0.508 is officially coming to Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8530.  The general consensus is that 5.0.0.508 will be out in the next couple of weeks.

OS 5.0.0.508 features include:

  • Simplified lock-key function
  • Overall improvements to battery life
  • Improved video streaming
  • Improved Voice Activated Dialing function
  • Message enhancements
  • Bluetooth improvements

RIM Confirms Plans To Bring Manufacturing Plant To Brazil

There have been rumors floating around that RIM was going to start building BlackBerry devices in Brazil.  Looks like those rumors were true.

A senior editor from BerryReview.com was attending a RIM development seminar in Brazil where the rumor was confirmed.

They plan on working with Flextronics to manufacture the BlackBerry Curve 8520 in Brazil. It looks like RIM is planning on making an even bigger play into Latin America with Brazil combined with their current plant in Mexico
