Wondering what Tazzle IT is?
tazzleit05
The quickest, easiest way to view, print & send email content, attachments, photos and files from your BlackBerry directly to any PC with XP.

Is Tazzle IT just another Bluetooth Dongle?
No. (not even close) Tazzle™ IT is a unique proprietary device and technology that creates an ad-hoc, secure, personal area network between your smartphone and any PC or laptop running Tazzle software. While Tazzle IT does use the Bluetooth chip as the communications layer between the smartphone and the PC, Tazzle IT is a task-specific device and software combination that enables users to immediately view, print, or save the email content, downloaded attachments, files and photos captured on a BlackBerry® Smartphone.

How do I use it?:
Let me share with you one of the many ways I have used it hundreds of times over the past month.
Being a building manager results in getting many emails everyday.
The building has 8 floors and around 65k square feet of office space with several tenants in the building. I get emails for bids, misc. quotes, contracts, accounting spreadsheets just to name a few. If someone needs a hard copy of the email, I would go to my office and print it out then make my way back to them with a hard copy.
Not anymore. I simply plug in my Tazzle IT into a computer running XP with a printer hooked up and print it off. I did pre-install the Tazzle IT software onto a PC on each floor in the beginning and that was it. Now I save tons of time by Tazzling.

Simple How to Install Video.

Looking to the Future:
As Tazzle IT continues to penetrate the market look for  everyday places frequented by BlackBerry users start taking advantage of the free Tazzle IT PC  download.  This will enable Hotels, Airports and other places that offer courtesy PC’s and printers a very handy service at no expense to them. Allowing Tazzle users a simple place to view, print & send email content, attachments, photos and files from your BlackBerry
Security Concerns?
The Tazzle’s use of Virtual Com ports make unauthorized pull-access to the computer through the Tazzle device impossible. On a technical level, standard Com ports are not held hostage by the Tazzle, due to the Tazzle’s use of a virtual Com port.  The Virtual Com Port disappears once the Tazzle Desktop Software is turned off. Tazzle does not utilize or require any standard Bluetooth drivers on the computer. Push-transfers to the PC are not possible without the Tazzle software activated and the receive mode set to View, Print, or Save. Tazzle™ IT features a built in hardware and software Firewall, protecting your PC from attacks from the outside, from file theft from the smartphone it is connected with, and vice verse.

I had the opportunity to review this product first hand back in April (HERE) and I started the article off with the following statement “If I only get one thing across to the readers in this article I want it to be this, “The pictures you take on your BlackBerry® will appear in your My Pictures Folder on your PC.” This statement still holds true and T-mobile customers with the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 can now take advantage of this awesome product.

“This makes it easier than ever to get pictures off your phone,” said Dan Shapiro, CEO of Ontela. “Users with the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone simply need to click “OK” on the Photobucket icon to configure and start their free trial. Then every picture, old or new, big or small will be delivered. Our automatic configuration technology and easy to use service take it from there!”

Slacker Radio Update to 2.0.45

slacker_storm2

Slacker has updated their software for the rest of the BlackBerry users to match the goodies seen on the Storm! One of the best features included in this latest update is that the battery life has been greatly improved while streaming music.

Here is a breakdown of the features you’ll find in the latest update:

  • Improved battery life up to 2x (over previous versions) while streaming
  • Improved usability enhancements to the interface, including a “Home” button to quickly access the station list
  • Added ability to toggle the explicit content filter (on/off) from the main menu
  • Addressed an issue where pausing a song for an extended period of time did not properly resume playback
  • Addressed an issue where phone calls or message alerts would prevent playback from resuming properly for some listeners

BlackBerry user poll: what iPhone apps would you like for BlackBerry?

storm and iphone

The developer community around the iPhone is fairly different from that of the BlackBerry developer community in that iPhone developers have OpenGL at their disposal, allowing them to create visually rich applications, as well as as the marketplace and demographics are slightly different. While the BlackBerry Storm is capable of running OpenGL hardware-wise, we have yet to see the API’s unlocked.

Lets assume for a moment, and this might be a crazy assumption, that BlackBerry had OpenGL API’s (possibly with the Storm 2?), and that any iPhone app you see could be ported to BlackBerry. For this to be true, we would also need to see device memory increase, as well as perhaps a built-in compass.

With those assumptions, and there may be a few more, what applications have you seen for iPhone, that you would like for BlackBerry? Or rather, what are your favorite iPhone apps that aren’t available for BlackBerry?

Here are some that I would like to see, and they’re mostly for entertainment. I’m sure there are a ton of apps out there in various categories so share what you find.

Birdhouse
“Ever think of something for your Twitter that you don’t want to post right away? Birdhouse is the perfect place to put it.”

OldBooth
“Have you ever wondered what you’d have looked like in another era? How about your friends? Be a lady from 20s or a funky hairy hippie. Now you can turn into in the fastest way ever.”

Yelp Augmented Reality Easter Egg feature
“Download the new Yelp app (came out yesterday). So you shake your iPhone 3 times. That activates a feature called Monocle. A message should come up if you activated it. A blue box will come up saying “the Monocle has been activated.” It will create a button in the top right corner. Now you should be able to look at the bars, restaurants, etc. Only works on iPhone 3GS.”

Ocarina
“Ocarina is the first true musical instrument created for the iPhone. Both experts and beginners will be amazed by this innovative player. Ocarina is sensitive to your breath, touch and movements, making it even more versatile than the original.”

TapTapRevenge
“Tap Tap Revenge is a rhythm game similar in concept to games like Phase for the iPod, or the console titles FreQuency and Amplitude, all developed by Harmonix, which also makes Guitar Hero and Rock Band.”

Google Earth
“Hold the world in the palm of your hand. With Google Earth for iPhone and iPod touch, you can fly to far corners of the planet with just the swipe of a finger.”

Crayon Physics
“Crayon Physics is a 2D physics puzzle / sandbox game, in which you get to experience what it would be like if your drawings would be magically transformed into real physical objects.”

iEmoji
The Japanese are really into Emoji and it’s a fun way to make your SMS and BBM messages more fun. With iEmoji for BlackBerry, you would have access to a much broader range of cartoons to express yourself with.

Real Racing
“This new racing game is looking to add even more content to the racing genre for the iPhone and does this wonderfully.”

MouthOff
“MouthOff is a simple mouth simulation app for the iPhone. The idea behind the app is to provide a silly way to express yourself.”
